Weekend with Marian and Susan

Palúdzka, Slovakia - June 16

| Next we toured the construction site for the new house they are building in Palúdzka. It will be a wonderful home!! |
Svarin, Slovakia - June 16

| We spent the night at Marián's parents' cabin in Svarin, a tiny and remote village. |
 |
| It was a rainy weekend, but we were snug and dry and warm inside this adorable cabin! |

| Still rainy, but that didn't stop us!! With Marián's trusty umbrellas, we hiked up to this scenic overlook (the Slovak Eiffel Tower??) |

| From the top of the tower we had panoramic views of Terchová, which is a village in the Malá Fatra mountains near Žilina. |
 |
| We also drove to the hill with a statue of Juraj Jánośík, the Slovak Robin Hood, who was born here. The rain made the trail too muddy to climb up, but it is a HUGE statue! |
 |
| The rain changed our outdoor hiking plans to indoor recreation at our hotel! |

| After some nice, hot saunas of several varieties, sitting in a hot tub, and relaxing in the quiet wellness area afterwards, we enjoyed beverages and conversation. |

| Sunday morning dawned sunny and beautiful, so after attending mass at the beautiful Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Terchová, we started off on a hike in Jánošíkove diery. |
 |
| The canyon hike was so much fun! We took some different routes than when we were there with Eva and Táňa. |
 |

| We stopped for lunch at a little buffet along the trail. We brought some food along, but got beverages there. |

| Susan's parents, Mirko and Yelka, hosted us for dinner at this elegant restaurant, reconstructed in a Baroque style. Such a fun evening to end a terrific weekend! |
